Earth Dance, Week #8

The chicks don't look so little anymore!

Bushra and I worked with the grapes today.  She watered each one, while I weeded, and then she joined me in weeding.

As we were working with the grapes, I heard Matt walking down the hill from wherever he had been working, and he yelled a good morning greeting, "Wednesday Special!"  I laughed and yelled back, "Good morning, Matt!"  That guy spreads a lot of joy.

Norm had to drive to the Cities today to deliver eggs, but before he left, he showed me this planting machine.  The interns have been using it to plant seedlings.  It is hooked up to the tractor.  One person drives the tractor, and two others sit in these yellow seats.  The seedlings are stored in the two red boxes, until they are placed in the planting wheel, which digs the holes and plants the seedlings.  He said he's hoping that I'll be able to give it a try some time.

Hannah followed us all over today.  Here she is, lounging next to the grapes.

The grape vines.

The next job we had was to hoe thistles in the horse pasture.

While we were doing that, Matt mowed around the apple trees.

The horses were very interested in what Bushra and I were doing.  They were also very interested in my water jug.  A couple of them slobbered all over it, and I had to wash it before I used it again!

This is a view of the herb garden from up in the horse pasture.

The horses love to relax under this beautiful tree.

Bushra's hat and shirt...I just thought it looked picture-worthy.

After lunch, Bushra and I weeded the raspberries.

Matt joined us after he was done weed whipping around the apple trees.  Mark joined us, too, and that is how we ended our day.

The raspberries after weeding.

Matt did a very nice job on those apple trees!
