Started the day out today, washing Butterhead lettuce with Bushra. It's so big and gorgeous, it looks like she's holding a bouquet of flowers!
Stephanie bagging the Butterhead lettuce after it's been washed.
Riley, taking scallions to the cooler, while Mark stays behind and continues harvesting.
Next, we harvested turnips...here's me holding one of the bigger ones.
Adriana counting to make sure we've harvested enough turnips. The sky in the background shows the threatening clouds that intermittently passed by throughout the day, though we never did see any rain. It was quite a beautiful day for harvesting and packing.
Laurie took a photo of the 'turnip washers;' Adriana, Stephanie, Bev and Bushra.
Here, we put the boxes back together (after the members have carefully flattened them for transport), to get ready for packing.
Here's a close-up.
Mark and Riley back from harvesting kohlrabi. Here, they are trimming them for packing.
We finished up by 5:30 today, which was quite surprising, since Matt was in Arizona with his family this week. Don't let that fool you, Mattie ole boy.....we need you!!!!!
This week's harvest:
Beets, radishes, raspberries, carrots, Buterhead lettuce, kale, turnips, kohlrabi, and scallions.
I am captivated by the beauty of this lettuce!
